Ayurvedic Wellness in the Piedmont Hills

VEDA Ayurvedic Wellness is part of Borgo Isolabella โ€” a wine estate, relais (boutique hotel), and cultural space in Loazzolo, in the hills of the Langhe. This is not a wellness centre that happens to be near vineyards. The vineyards are the context. The landscape is part of the practice.

Borgo Isolabella

Borgo Isolabella sits in Loazzolo, one of Italy's smallest wine appellations, known for its late-harvest Moscato passito and for a quality of landscape that resists being hurried. The estate produces wine, hosts guests, exhibits art, and โ€” through VEDA โ€” now offers something that no other wine estate in Piemonte does: a full Ayurvedic practice rooted in the same philosophy of seasonal attentiveness that the vineyard itself embodies.

The buildings are old. The cantina, where the wines rest and slowly become themselves, sits at the heart of the estate. The hospitality rooms look out over rows of vines that change character with every season. The infinity pool reflects the sky that the Nebbiolo and Moscato grapes have been reading for generations.

What happens at Borgo Isolabella โ€” the wine, the food, the art, the practice of Ayurveda โ€” is not a collection of separate amenities. It is the expression of a single sensibility: that attention, applied to a place and the people within it, produces something that cannot be found anywhere else.

"Here, the place is part of the practice."

Loazzolo and the Territory

Loazzolo is a comune of a few hundred inhabitants in the province of Asti, at the edge of the Langhe where the hills begin to rise toward the Ligurian Apennines. Its wine appellation โ€” Loazzolo DOC โ€” produces only one wine: a Passito di Moscato, made from grapes that are left on the vine well past the standard harvest to concentrate their sugars in the autumn sun.

The choice to wait โ€” to let the fruit reach its proper fullness on its own time โ€” is characteristic of this place. It is also, not coincidentally, one of the central principles of Ayurveda. The Sanskrit concept of pakva โ€” ripening, arriving at completeness through the correct application of time and conditions โ€” could have been coined in these hills.

Within an hour of Borgo Isolabella: the Barbera d'Asti vineyards to the north; the Moscato d'Asti hills to the east; and, to the south, Alba and the great Nebbiolo appellations of the Langhe, Barolo and Barbaresco. The territory is one of the richest wine landscapes in Europe, and one of the least trafficked by mass tourism. Guests who find it tend to return.

Ayurvedic Wellness During Your Stay in Piedmont

Individual treatments

The full VEDA treatment menu is available to all guests โ€” day visitors and overnight guests alike. Enjoy an Ayurvedic massage during your stay in Piedmont, with sessions running from 30 to 90 minutes. Every session begins with a brief constitutional assessment; Poonam selects the oil, technique, and sequence based on what she finds. See the full treatments page for details and pricing.

Multi-day programmes

The 2-Day, 3-Day, and 5-Day programmes are designed for guests who want to go deeper โ€” a structured sequence of treatments that build on one another across consecutive days. These work particularly well when combined with accommodation at the relais, allowing the rhythm of the programme to extend beyond the treatment room into Ayurvedic meals, rest, and the landscape.
